Ditto Music: The Company at the Forefront of Grime Music
February 8, 2018
After opening their first South African office in Johannesburg last year, global music company Ditto Music is now at the forefront of building bridges between the UK grime scene and Africa.
Ditto Music has been a key player in the rise of grime music, championing the genre since its early days and supporting the many iconic grime artists before they became commercially popular.
Ditto was the original distributor for global grime superstar Stormzy, helping him to establish himself during the early stages of his career and pushing him to the level of success he has now achieved. Other renowned grime artists previously on Ditto’s roster include legendary artist and godfather of grime Wiley, as well as Lady Leshurr, J Hus and Wretch 32.
The company currently works with the next generation of rising grime stars, providing distribution and record label services to acts including Dave – who has collaborated with Drake and achieved a UK Top 20 hit with the track ‘No Words’ – as well as Yxng Bane, AJ Tracey, Kojo Funds, Not3s, Zdot and many more.
“Grime is the fastest growing genre in the world, and we’re proud to have been here from the start. Africa is an exciting market for music right now, and we’re delighted to see grime’s increasing popularity across the continent” Lee Parsons, Ditto Music CEO
To celebrate the rising profile and popularity of grime across Africa, Ditto Music has just launched a new African-curated grime playlist in collaboration with Deezer.
