Leading music distribution and artist services company Ditto Music has revealed that it distributed 5% of all music worldwide in 2024.
According to Luminate’s End of Year Report, 99,000 new tracks were uploaded to music platforms worldwide each day, 91.8% of which were delivered by independent distribution. This data shows that 33,171,930 tracks are released on music platforms by independent distributors and record labels each year.
In 2024, Ditto delivered 1,662,783 tracks to digital music stores, accounting for 4.8% of all music and 5.01% of all music excluding major labels.
Founded by brothers Lee and Matt Parsons in response to their own struggles releasing music, Ditto remains 100% independent and has worked with Grammy Award winners Chance the Rapper, Ed Sheeran, and Sam Smith, as well as BRIT Award winners Dave and Myles Smith.
Ditto's top-performing artist of 2024 was Indian rapper Karan Aujla, who achieved over half a billion streams last year.
Speaking on the figures, Ditto Music CEO, Lee Parsons commented:
"We’re incredibly proud to support so many talented independent musicians across the globe and remain committed to providing the best tools, services, and opportunities to help them succeed on their own terms."
Recent figures published in Music Business Worldwide also confirmed that global audio streams increased by 14% to 4.8 trillion, with pop overtaking rock as the fastest-growing genre in 2024.
